What began as a small project in a Boston apartment has grown into a trusted name in sports fan gear, known for quality, authenticity, and passion. How We Started

FOCO founders in their early days

FOCO was founded in 2015 by Mark Reynolds and Lisa Chen, two lifelong sports fans who met in college during a heated debate about the greatest NBA teams of all time. Mark, a die-hard Boston Celtics fan, and Lisa, a New England Patriots superfan, bonded over their shared love for sports culture and the need for gear that truly represented their passion.

The idea for FOCO came after a frustrating experience: they couldn't find fan gear that matched their team pride without looking generic. They wanted something bold, fun, and authentic. That's when they decided to create their own line of sports merchandise-starting with customizable jerseys and accessories that allowed fans to express their loyalty in unique ways.

Their first product, a customizable NFL laptop sleeve, was an instant hit among local sports bars and fan meetups. Word spread quickly, and soon FOCO was shipping orders across the country.

Milestones and Achievements

2016: First Official Launch

FOCO officially launched its first product line, featuring 10 customizable items including jerseys, hats, and laptop sleeves. The company sold out of its initial inventory within three months, prompting the first expansion of production.

2018: Partnering with NFL and NBA Teams

FOCO secured its first licensing agreements with the New England Patriots and Boston Celtics, allowing the brand to produce officially licensed merchandise. This partnership significantly boosted credibility and sales, leading to expanded product lines in 2019.

2020: International Expansion

With demand growing globally, FOCO launched international shipping to Canada, the UK, and Australia. The brand also introduced a new line of neck gaiters designed for cold-weather sports fans, which became a top seller.

2022: Fan Loyalty Program Launch

Mark Reynolds is the driving force behind FOCO's vision and growth. With over 15 years of experience in retail and e-commerce, Mark previously led product development at a major sports apparel company before co-founding FOCO. His passion for the Boston Celtics and love for innovative product design have shaped FOCO's unique approach to fan gear.

Mark holds a degree in Business Administration from Boston University and is a certified scrum master. Outside of work, he coaches his son's youth basketball team and is known for his legendary tailgate BBQ skills.

Lisa Chen, Co-Founder & Chief Creative Officer

Lisa Chen brings creativity and authenticity to every product at FOCO. A former graphic designer for a major sports network, Lisa is responsible for the bold, eye-catching designs that define FOCO's brand. Her signature style blends humor, team spirit, and modern aesthetics-making FOCO gear instantly recognizable.

Lisa earned her BFA in Graphic Design from the Rhode Island School of Design and has been featured in Forbes' "30 Under 30" list for retail and e-commerce. She's also a certified yoga instructor and hosts annual "Design & Relax" retreats for women in the sports industry.

James Carter, Chief Operations Officer

Chief Operations Officer

James Carter oversees FOCO's supply chain, logistics, and customer experience. With a background in operations management at Amazon and Zappos, James has streamlined FOCO's production and shipping processes, ensuring that fans receive their orders quickly and accurately.

James holds an MBA from MIT Sloan and is a Six Sigma Green Belt. He's known for his calm demeanor, love of spreadsheets, and uncanny ability to find the best deals on bulk fabrics.
